  History

ONCE UPON A TIME...
In a small town called Tarzana, California, two sisters had a sweet idea: to provide their neighbors with freshly-baked gourmet treats and gift baskets that could be delivered the same day. They set up shop in a tiny storefront on Ventura Blvd., selling high-quality assortments of mini-muffins, cookies and brownie bars that are the trademark of a Mrs. Beasley's gift basket. Of course people talked-in this case, they talked with their mouths full. Some of the neighbors were among the biggest names in Hollywood so (Hollywood gossip being what it is) the demand for Mrs. Beasley's products soon spread far and wide. In fact, requests even started coming from outside Los Angeles. In response, the company began distributing a national mail order catalog and opened additional stores in southern California. Today, Mrs. Beasley's delicious treats are available anywhere, anytime, by phone, at 8 retail stores, through the company's web site at www.mrsbeasleys.com.

Mrs. Beasley Meets Miss Grace: A Match Made in Heaven

While Mrs. Beasley's was busy growing into a thriving gift-basket concern, competition was cooking just down the street in the form of Miss Grace, another small store that was making quite a name for itself in the luxury baked goods category. In particular, Miss Grace's Lemon Cake was becoming a legend itself around Hollywood and it too had developed a national following via a busy mail order business. It seemed inevitable that the two best gourmet baked goods companies in L.A. (not to mention the world) would end up under one roof and they did in 1995 when Miss Grace was purchased by Kayne Anderson, an L.A. investment company with 6 billion in assets, that had bought Mrs. Beasley's six years earlier. The joint enterprise opened new stores and distributed a combined catalog to the acclaim of the Hollywood industry and ordinary folks alike. Mrs. Beasley's web site also features Miss Grace Lemon Cakes. Today, both companies continue to do business together, distributing their fabulous baked-goods-of-the-stars around the world.
